A Russian girl, dressed in American coveralls, ladles out hot coffee to U.S. airmen, just returned to an airbase in Russia after a bombing mission over enemy territory. American aircraft have operated from Italy blasted German targets in Bucharest, the capital of Rumania, and then continued to new Russian bases. U.S. Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson on June 8, said "the use of these bases means that no point in German-controlled Europe will be remote from our (U.S.) striking power in the air."
