Captured "Flying Bomb"base. This view of a section of an unfinished "flying bomb"projection site, captured by U.S. troops on the Cherbourh Peninsula, shows the side view of a ramp, with camouflage and blast walls. In the foreground is the small control buildings with a tiny vision slit in front. All such buildings were of heavy reinforced concrete. In spite of camouflage, craters from bombs dropped by Allied planes were found all over the site, although little damage was done to main heavily concreted buildings, most of the installations being underground. This site is now being used as a forward command post by U.S. troops.
