French generals salute as their nation's flag is raised in Montbeliard, road and rail junction in Eastern French which was liberated by troops of the French First Army, november 17, 1944. Montbeliard is only eight miles south of Belfort, target of the French armored troops spearheading toward Sourthern Germany.
