Rodopisný úřad pro Čechy a Moravu, Praha
The Genealogical Office for Bohemia and Moravia was established at the Ministry of the Interior by Government Decree No.150 of 1 June 1943, in particular to procure documents for official proof of ancestry according to Government Decree No. 166 of 19 May 1939, for the purpose of issuing decrees of descent in ambiguous cases for Protectorate nationals and stateless persons residing or habitually resident in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, according to heredity and race. The Reich Genealogical Office for Bohemia and Moravia in Prague was abolished by a decree of the Presidium of the Ministry of the Interior of 30 October 1945 and the agenda of procuring civil registration and other personal documents for the needs of state and public authorities, courts and other bodies was transferred to a newly established department of this Ministry. The collection contains a very small number of documents which cannot come close to representing the activities of the Office. These include only some circulars and questionnaires concerning civil registry records in general, records of Jewish religion, and a card file of parish districts for May to June 1944. The use for Holocaust issues is very marginal.
