Národní správa majetkových podstat, Praha
The National Administration of Property (NSMP) was established in 1945 by the decree of the Ministry of Labor and Social Care and was tasked with managing property confiscated from its original owners during the occupation under the pressure of national, political, and racial persecution. This primarily included property under the competence of the former Central Office for Jewish Emigration (later the Central Office for the Settlement of the Jewish Question in Bohemia and Moravia), the Emigration Fund for Bohemia and Moravia, and the Property Office at the Reich Protector (later at the German State Minister). In 1947, NSMP was also entrusted with managing the portion of Czechoslovak citizens’ property that had been located abroad before the war. In addition to the central office in Prague, individual regional offices operated. Original owners or their surviving relatives, as heirs, submitted applications for post-war restitution of confiscated property to this institution. The Ministry of Labor and Social Care was responsible for processing these applications and issuing restitution decisions. NSMP ceased its activities in 1950, and the agenda of unresolved cases (management of property not yet restituted) was transferred to certain state institutions through the Fund for National Renewal. In the collection, which has not yet been fully processed, files concerning the management of real estate have been separated and arranged by locality and property number. These files contain various accounting documents related to the administration of buildings, not only post-war but also from the period when the property was managed by the Emigration Fund (e.g., for sewer cleaning, window glazing, chimney work, etc.). They also include declarations for tenancy tax, various post-war insurance policies, correspondence regarding rentals, and records of property transfers to the Emigration Fund. At the end of each file, there is usually a protocol on the transfer of the property back to the original owner or their heir, indicating the registration number of the restitution decision (rarely a copy of the entire decision) and the attached accounting of income and expenditures from the relevant regional office of the NSMP. To a lesser extent, the collection also contains files related to movable property (bank deposits, securities, artworks, clothing), which have been arranged by the names of the original owners.
