Fond národní obnovy, Praha

The inventory cards provide an overview of confiscated property estates within individual administrative districts, along with detailed information on the characteristics of the confiscated property and their transfers. The processed part of the collection also includes, for example, a card index of owners whose property was confiscated, as well as card indexes of persons tried by extraordinary people’s courts. From the unprocessed part of the collection, several subgroups can be identified: allocations of businesses in border districts that changed owners as a result of confiscation; liquidation of German military training grounds; documents of the German Settlement Company and transfers to the Czechoslovak-Moravian Agricultural Company. Other materials include files of the FNO regional offices, audit reports of national administrators, and applications to acquire certain portions of confiscated property for public purposes or for the economic development of the state. The originators of the collection are the Settlement Office in Prague, established based on Presidential Decree No. 27/1945 Coll. of 17 July 1945 on the unified management of internal settlement, and the Fund for National Renewal (FNO), established by Presidential Decree No. 108/1945 Coll. of 25 October 1945 on the confiscation of enemy property and national renewal funds. The FNO, subordinated to the Settlement Office, was responsible, in cooperation with district and municipal national committees, for securing and taking over all confiscated property, as well as supervising the management by national administrators. Some of this property originally belonged to Jewish owners. The Settlement Office, together with its regional branches, was abolished under Act No. 18/1950 Coll. of 9 March 1950. Its agenda was transferred to other offices, primarily to the FNO, which from that time was directly subordinated to the Ministry of Finance. The FNO itself was later abolished by Act No. 182/1950 Coll. of 20 December 1950, effective 1 July 1951.
