U.S. soldiers link up Paris Rome cable. U.S. Army Signal Corpsmen clip a cable to guide wires strung on telegraph poles to complete the last link in the internationale cable between Paris and rome on the frontier between Modane in France and Susa in Italy, in the Maritime Alps in southern France. The new cable section laid by the U.S. Signal Corpsmen replaced an older section destroyed by retreating German forces.
