U.S. Army Signal Corpsmen move up hill a heavy cable reel along a mountain trail alongside a road in the Maritime Alps in southern France for the linking up of the international cable between Paris and Rome. The operations completed the cable on the frontier between Modane in France and Susa in Italy. One of te problems overcome by the linemen was getting the cable over pasths that even jeeps could not follow.
