Dr. Volkjalmur Stefabsson, Arctic explorer and geographer, builds a platform inside an igloo he is building in the snowfields of the Rocky Mountains at Camp Hale, Colorado, where Dr. Stefansson instructed U.S. troops in snowcraft. The U.S. soldiers were taught how to provide shelter in barren country where snow is the only medium for building.
