U.S. combat team searches Belgian woods for Nazi paratroopers. American combat troops search thick woods in Belgium for Nazi paratroopers dropped behind First U.S. Army positions as the major enemy counter-thrust against the Americans began December 16, 1944. Meeting the German assault U.S. Lieutenant General Courtney H. Hodges men took, 2,200 prisoners in one day.
