Carrying their equipment, wiremen of the U.S. Signal Corps walk by the battered buildings in St. Lo, the hinge of the Nazi defense line in Western Normandy captured by American forces July 18, 1944. Signal Corps men repair and reinstall communications in areas won from the Nazis.
