Second Army: British push north of Mark, Holland. British troops have pushed north of Roosendaal and are whithin 1,000 Yards of Willemstad. The Germans requested a 24-hour truce to evacuate the town. The Allies refused this but granted a truce to enable civilians to leave the town. An ant-tank crew in position guarding the road to Willemstad against possible counter-attacks.

French women work for the U.S. Army. French girls cut patterns from army blankets to make fox-hole boots for front-line U.S. soldiers. Filled with straw, the boots are put over regular footwear to protect the soldier from cold and dampness. The idea was originated by a U.S. Army Civil Affairs office, but the boots have not yet been used by the troops. American authorities revealed January 24, 1945, ...
