German youths die for espionage. A Ninth U.S. Army firing squad executes 16-year-old Heinz Petry of Alsdorf, Germany, convicted of espionage against American forces. He was one of two German youths found spying against U.S. troops and put to death near Braunschweig, Germany, June 1, 1945. They were members of the Hitler Youth organization.
