French troops march through Rome. Soldiers of the First French Army, commanded by General Pierre Alphone Juin, march through the streets of Rome past the memorial to Victor Emanuel. These French troops, first to crack the Gustav Line, played an important part with their American, British and Polish Allies, in the victorious drive through Italy and the liberation of the capital June 3, 1944.
