An American Red Cross aid worker distributes books and magazines to wounded American soldiers before they are put aboard a C-54. Skymaster hospital plane at an Air Transport Command base in the United Kingdom. The soldiers will be flown to an Eastern U.S. airport and from there to hospitals near their homes.
