This painting, by Colantonio, of Saint Jerome taking the thorn from the lion's paw, was one of 12 art masterpieces stolen from the Museum in Naples, Italy, by the treating Germans. Colantonio brought to Italy the knowledge of the oil painting of the Van Eyck schoool. The stolen paintings are conservatively valued at $ 3,000,000.
