This collection contains correspondence and official personal documents of the Engelberg family.<br />

Papers consist of documents, letters, newspaper clippings, and photographs relating to the experiences of Heinrich and Gustava Skovronsky [donor's parents] during the time period surrounding the Holocaust. Some of the photographs were saved by Gustava while in the concentration camps by keeping them wrapped up in her hair with a comb.

Max Koenig (born Meier Leib Konigl; b. 1903) was born in Pasieczna, Poland (now Pasichna, Ukraine). He immigrated to the United States in 1933. He married Anna Sobel in Sołotwina in 1932. Anna Koenig (born Chana Sobel; b. 1902) was born in Sołotwina, Poland (now Solotvyn, Ukraine). She immigrated to the United States in 1921. She married Max Koenig in Sołotwina in 1932.

Szymon Icyk Ginsberg was born in Dąbrowa Górnicza (Poland) on May 31, 1906 (possibly 1911). In 1939, he married Helga Gappe (who was born in Berlin on October 12, 1920) in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode near Brussels, Belgium. The couple escaped to Portugal in 1940 and later to Brazil.

Edmund Hamber was born in Vienna in 1893. He and his elder brother, Philipp, worked in the Social Democratic Viennese film scene during the pre-nazi era. They were producers, distributors and owners and creators of a cinema chain. After the advent of the nazis it became increasingly difficult for Jews to work in the film industry. Benjamin Orenbuch was born in Zarnow, Poland, in 1882. He became a travelling merchant and married Rywka Laja Aspich, who was born in Novy Korczyn, Poland, in 1886. Together they would have three daughters, all born in Lodz, Poland: Tauba alias Thérèse (born on 7 May 1912), Fajga alias Fanny (born on 3 December 1916) and Roza (born on 13 March 1921).
