Mahatma Gandhi goes to see Viceroy at end of 'fast unto death'. Mahatma Gandhi, the Indian leader, leaving Birla House in Bombay to have an interview with the Viceroy of India (Lord Linlithgow) concerning the Rajkot dispute, which caused him to begin his 'fast unto death'. Gandhi was persuaded to end his fast, which weakened him considerably, by promises of mediation in the dispute.
