Beachhead landing in France. American shock troops and amphibious machines emerge dripping from the English Channel and surge inland to storm an enemy strong point on the coast of Northern France June 6, 1944. Half -tracks and a beached DUKW on the shore indicate succesful landing of the initial waves. The smoke in the background is from naval gunfire supporting the landing.
