This collection contains correspondence from friends of the Manes family in the immediate post war years. Much of it relates to the fate of family and friends and conditions in post war Germany.

A biography of the Austrian-French Jewish intellectual and psychologist, Manes Sperber (1905-1985), co-worker of Alfred Adler, the founder of individual psychology. Pp. 123-218 describe his life between 1933-45. In 1927 he had moved from Vienna to Berlin, and was arrested as a communist in 1933. He was released because of his Polish citizenship and moved to Paris, where he was employed by the Komintern. ...

Consists of one identification card, dated April 30, 1945, identifying Manes Weizman, originally of Pionki, Poland, as a civilian internee of Buchenwald.

This letter is from a former friend of Philip Manes and his wife, addressed to Eva Manes and written in 1957. It is a long rambling letter in Suetterlin script from the lady who bought Manes' grand piano for RM 1000. She lived in the same house as Philip Manes and his wife and was obviously a great friend who adored both. She writes about arrangements for payment for the piano, about Manes' problems, ...

This collection of personal papers of Walter Manes documents his life from youth to the immediate post-war years. In addition to the documentation, an unpublished autobiographical account (1548/1) puts the papers in context.

This typscript letter addressed to Eva Manes from an unidentified friend of the family describes what happened to Eva's parents and other friends and acquaintances after her departure from Berlin before the war. The author also describes his own experiences after the war in Berlin.

This is a collection of original papers of Philipp Manes, former fur trader, resident of Berlin and later inmate of Terezin, from where he was sent to his death at Auschwitz with his wife in 1944.</p><br />

Fonds consists of Manes' Star of David badge worn in Belgium, as well as documents and photographs documenting her and her family's experience of the Holocaust in Belgium. Fonds has been arranged into two files: Kollmann family file and Alice Schiffer file.

The Sheiman family photographs consist of three photographs depicting pre-war Jewish life in Radziejów, Poland. Included are a studio portrait of unidentified Sheiman relatives, and two group portraits, the first of pupils and teachers of a local cheder, and the second depicting the Jewish community of Radziejów gathered at the ground breaking of a new synagogue in 1938.
