"My Heroine Aunt"
Includes a two-page biography of Margarete Elkan describing her acts of heroism during the Holocaust. The essay, "My heroine aunt," describes the work of Margarete Elkan as well as the stories of Bertha Bennigsohn and Elise Katz. Both the brief biography and the essay describe the experiences of German Jews before and after the Holocaust. Dr. Frank Lowenstein is a native of Germany and a former medical student of the University of Berlin. He immigrated to the United States in Sept. 1938 and later settled in Silver Spring, Maryland.
