Morris and Rachel Zeif documents

Rachel Lederman (Ruchla) was born in Stopnica, Poland on May 15, 1922. Rachel was one of eight children (five girls and three boys) and Rachel was the only one who survived the Holocaust. In 1942, Rachel was taken to Skarżysko-Kamienna. From there she was sent to Czestochowa, where she was liberated by the Russian army and was taken to a munitions factory. Rachel stayed at the munitions factory with six other girls before returning to her home. After the war, she met Morris Zeif (Mordka). They were married in July 1945 and lived in Pinczów, Poland. Their daughter, Suzanne, was born in the Bari DP camp in Italy. The family immigrated to Israel in 1948. The collection includes post-war identity documents issued to Morris and Rachel Zeif (Mordka and Ruchla Zaif) in Bielawa, Poland and in a displaced persons camp in Italy.
