The Gewerbegesetz (Commerce Legislation) of the Kingdom of Saxony, dated 15/10/1861, ordered the establishment of Handelskammern (Chambers of Commerce) and Gewerbekammern (Chambers of Industry) in every Amtshauptmannschaft (district) in the Kingdom starting on 01/01/1862. These organizations underwent unification and became the Industrie und Handelskammern (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) in 1931, including in Zittau. These organizations were dissolved in 1945.

The archival materials of the Industrie und Handelskammer (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) in Zittau were preserved in the archival section of the Saxony State Archive in Dresden.

Files from this archival section were published in Volume 4 of the series, "Quellen zur Geschichte der Juden in den Archiven der neuen Bundeslaende", a series edited by German historians following the unification of Germany. The series include lists of files that relate to the Jews. The files are stored in the Archives of [the Former] East Germany. Volume 4, page 312 includes a survey of files in the Saxony State Archive in Dresden. Based on this publication, the Yad Vashem Archive ordered four files, which were sent to Yad Vashem by means of the postal system. The files deal with Jewish owned companies and industrial factories in the area and outside it, and one of the files includes protocols of meetings held by the management, including their decisions.
