This collection consists of correspondence and contracts regarding the publication of <em>Auschwitz in England</em> , by Mavis M. Hill and L. Norman Williams. The collection consists primarily of correspondence and contracts re the publication of the book and issues relating toa BBC broadcast of a dramatisation of the book. In addition there is a copy transcript of the testimony of Dering during the trial (1418/146). The book is the true account of a libel case brought in 1964 in London by Dr Wladislaw Alexander Dering, former prisoner-doctor in Auschwitz against Leon Uris, author of <em>Exodus</em>, and the publishers of that book, for alleged defamation of character, specifically in Uris' statement that Dering had performed 17,000 'experiments' in surgery without anaesthetic.<br /><br />The jury found for the plaintiff but only awarded him the smallest coin in the realm and awarded costs to the defendants.<br /><br /> Open
