Enteignung der Juden : Wunder der Wirtschaft, Erbe der Deutschen
Surveys the methods by which the Nazi regime and private "Aryan" citizens profited from the takeover of Jewish property, giving many detailed examples. "Aryan" industrial firms were able to expand, with party backing, by buying up Jewish firms for prices far below their true value; businesses and professions were rid of Jewish competitors; museums enriched their collections with art looted from Jews; bombed-out Germans were assigned formerly Jewish apartments; and all could buy household furnishings and personal effects of all kinds left behind by deported Jews and auctioned off cheaply by the local government finance offices. Banks profited by funding such transactions and by handling gold confiscated in the occupied countries, including gold taken from Jews upon arrival in the concentration and extermination camps. Industries also profited from slave labor, including that of Jewish concentration camp prisoners. After the war, the Allies and Jewish pressure obliged the Germans to return Aryanized property to its owners and to pay compensation to victims of Nazi persecution; but the process was obstructed by bureaucracy and by organized resistance, often with antisemitic undertones.
