Der Untergang von Kosow und Zabie : zwei Augenzeugenberichte einer Katastrophe
Memoirs of two Jews, an uncle and his nephew, relating the fate of their villages, Kosów and Żabie (now Kosov and Verkhovina in Ukraine) in the Holocaust. Pp. 11-108, by Jehoschua (Kosów, 1886-Israel, 1972), describe life in the "Shtetl" from the end of the 18th century, and relate events in October 1941 when the Gestapo, with the assistance of Ukrainians, murdered 2,200 Jews in Kosów. Several hundred of the remaining Jews, who were kept for forced labor, were arrested in September 1942 and deported to Bełżec. 56 Jews escaped this deportation. He then crossed the border into Romania to join his future wife. After the war they settled in Vienna after living in several places, including Brazil.
