La Shoah en Roumanie : les Juifs sous le régime d'Antonescu (1940-1944) : documents diplomatiques français inédits
Ch. 1 (pp. 11-47) examines the fate of Romanian Jewry under the Antonescu regime (1940-44). States that incriminating evidence about Romanian persecution of Jews remained classified until recently due to the negationist campaign orchestrated by the right-wing parties after 1989. Studies the basis for populist nationalism appearing in the local press and notes that despite Ceauşescu's criticism of antisemitism, the reputations of those responsible for it emerged unscathed. Presents two explanations for this: a counter-reaction to the commemoration ceremonies and documentation attesting to Romanian collaboration with the Nazis. The rest of the book comprises 100 documents found in the archives of the French Foreign Ministry which cast new light on antisemitic legislation in Romania and other persecution of the Jews. Includes bibliographical references. 189 pages : maps ; 24 cm.
