Coma Auschwitz, no A.5553 : récit
Memoirs of a French Jewish woman, written in 1946 and published in 1996 with only minute corrections. Maous, born in 1915, was arrested together with her husband in April 1944 in the remote village of Lamastre, sent to Drancy, and deported from there in May 1944 to Auschwitz. Maous worked in a kommando unit in Birkenau. She was hospitalized at the time of the evacuation of Auschwitz in January 1945, thus escaping the death march, and was liberated by the Russians on 27 January. Her husband perished in the Holocaust; Maous returned to France after the war. Pp. 11-22 contain an introduction by Pierre Vidal-Naquet. Includes bibliographical references. 182 pages ; 21 cm.
