Postcard from great-uncle Bram, May 17, 1945
Item is a postcard written to Jeanne, Dor, Els, Loes (Sorensen’s mother, father, sister Eleonore, and herself), and is from Sorensen’s great-uncle, Bram van Dam. Bram sent the card from his home in Hilversum while Sorensen and her family remained stuck Apeldoorn shortly after liberation. Great-uncle Bram and his wife Nel were orthodox Jews. Bram updates his family members that “all is healthy over here.” He writes that Aunt Jans has been staying in his home since the 1 November 1944. Aai, Ro, Puck are all fine, as well as the Olff family. Bram informs that Ans, his daughter, was able to get out of Poland. He states that around 1 September she was in concentration camp Landsberg a/Lech near Augsberg. He concludes his correspondence stating that he supposes Sorensen and her family “will hasten to get to the West as soon as possible and we (hope?) for a speedy reunion of the four of you in healthy condition.”
