Gandhi with 'Gandhi' the second.
Gandhi with 'Gandhi' the second. Mahatma Gandhi, the Indian Nationalist leader, accompanied by Abdul Ghaffar Khan (left), the 'Gandhi of the Frontier', when he addressed an audience of villagers near Peshawar. Mr. Gandhi was making a sightseeing tour through a score of villages on the Mohmand border 'to test the truth of the assertion that the Redshirts had imbibed the spirit of non-violence and to study tribal conditions'. Abdul Ghaffar Khan is known as the 'Gandhi of the Frontier' because of his immense influence over the people on the North-West Frontier.
