Algiers today.
Algiers today. Ministers take a vote at the French Consultative Assembly (the Cabinet of the Algiers Government) in Algiers. The Algiers Parliament is not representative in the sense that it is not an elected body. It has no legislative powers. Its function is to advise the French Committee of National Liberation, which controls civil affairs in Algiers, on general policy and on economic and financial matters. The Allied Military Control operating in Algiers does not interfere on such matters except when they impinge on military operations.
