June 14-16 Malta convoys fights its way through with losses. The passage of the convoy from the west to Malta on June 14-16 was under command of Vice-Admiral Curteis. It was sighted and shadowed by enemy aircraft before it reached the Sardinia North Africa Channel and from then onwards was subject to very violent air attacks. Despite these attacks, and the threat of attack by two enemy cruisers and four destroyers, which were driven off, the convoy was able to reach Malta although with her serious losses, in the early hours of June 16th, 1942, enemy planes were destroyed for certain with 22 "probables" and many other damaged by A.A. from convoy and escprts and naval aircraft. Attacks were also made on the enemy cruisers and destroyers by British aircraft, which clamed several hits, and a large enemy destroyer was seen to be hit.
