U.S. Liberty ships bring food to Naples. Neapolitan dock workers unload sacks of food from the hold of a U.S. Liberty ship in the harbor of Naples, Italy. The Germans, before they were driven from Naples by the liberating Allied Fifth Army, destroyed or seized 90 per cent of the food supplies in the city's warehouses, and a famine was averted by the arrival of Allied food ships four days after the enemy fled.
