German submarine captured by U.S. Navy ships off West Africa. The U.S.S. Guadalcanal, escort carrier of the small task group that located the U-505, approaches the captured German submarine. U.S. sailors and their officers are readying a towline for the long trip to Bermuda. Other members of the boarding party have gone below in the undersea craft to close the scuttling hatches and to connect the electric machinery that will pump out the partially flooded hull. The speedy efforts of the U.S. naval personnel checked the flooding in time to prevent the captured enemy craft from sinking.
