A passenger liner being built for New Zealand, for the run between Sydney and New Zealand. This is the berth on which the world,s two larges ships were built - the 81,000 ton Queen Mary, and her sister ship the Queen Elizabeth of 85,000 tons. The Queen Mary won the Blue Riband of the Atlantic in 1936 with a speed of 30.63 knots. Together they carried during the war a million and a quarter Allied soldiers. The Queen Elizabeth is now refitting as a passenger liner.
