U.S. troops return to America. American troops are shown boarding a ship at Southampton to return to the U.S. for discharge or service in the Pacific war zone. The return of American troops, above the approximately 500,000 needed for the army of occupation, has been speeded up to meet requirements of the war against Japan. First to go were the seriously wounded, skilled technicians and special service personnel, who were flown across the Atlantic. Seaborne contingents are leaving British ports daily.
