Stars and Stripes, G.I. Morale Booster No. 1. Issues of "Stars and Stripes". In makeup, the paper has stuck rigidly to its original policy of giving its readers a paper as much like the ones they left at home as possible. The shortage of paper in Britain necessitated a four-page tabloid daily to comply with newsprint allotments of the British Stationer's Office, which controls the supply of paper in the British Isles. But "Stars and Stripes", which does not publish Sundays, gets an additional four pages Monday to cover the weekend news. An eight-page Sunday magazine published in Paris is distributed by Air Transport Command planes to all editions for insertion in weekend editions. British newspapers get double the paper ration of "Stars and Stripes"- standard size dailies are allowed enough paper for four pages daily, tabloids enough for eight.
