He has been awarded the Croix de Guerre four times, the Colonial Medal and various campaign medals for service in Indo-China, Syria, Tunisia and Eritrea. He has returned to his homeland with the French Army to fight the Germans with the Allied Expeditionary Force. All personnel of the French Army were equipped with American uniforms and war materiel before crossing the English Channel on Allied transports and landing craft.
