Bread for the people. A Frenchman holds up the bread which had just been given as French refugees gather at a doorway to receive their allowance in the town of Percy. Percy was captured August 12, 1944, during the spectacular advance which resulted in U.S. armored columns cutting off the whole of the Breton Peninsula with its three great ports of Brest, Lorient and St. Nazaire.
