Russians on Normandy front.
Russians on Normandy front. Two Russians (center), captured by the Germans earlier in the war and forced to work on heavy gun emplacements near Cherbourg, France, are shown with three American soldiers of the Allied Expeditionary Force. The Russians, who escaped from the Nazis and gave themselves up to American troops, were able to give valuable information regarding German installations in Normandy. Left to right are Staff Sergean Otto Scheoppler, Beaver, Pa.; Private Robert Segal, Boston, Mass.; Yerschoff Dimitir, Reukling Alexander and Technical Sergeant Hans Burger, New York City.
