Vire, Normandy. The aerial view of Vire in Normandy shows the destruction it suffered during the fight for its liberation. In the foreground is the famous 12th to 14th Century Church of Notre Dame. The east wing, containing the ambulatory with its 15th Century carved garnet doorway and the cloisters at the back are badly damaged. The houses around the church are shells.
