American Military Government in Germany. Members of the U.S. Military Government detachment who control Bayreuth are seen in conference. Most of these officers received extensive special training for operations in this city. Entering the city on the heels of the forward troops who conquered it, the detachment's officers were already familiair with the layout of the community, its main buildings, its officials and local government. They had been briefed on what property and files to seize, which persons to apprehend and other "lightning"steps to assure smooth operations in Bayreuth. Left to right are: Lieutenant William T Miesse of West Orange, New Jersey, Finance and Property Control Officer; Lieutenant Jack M. Kennedy of Dencer, Colorado, Supply and Procurement Officer; Lieutenant Robert M. Yake of Detroit, Michgan, Labor, Trade and Industry Offiver; Captain William T. Robinson of Baltimore, Maryland, Deputy Military Government Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Carrol J. Reilly of New York City, Militar Government Officer; Captain Berverly R. Holstun of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Food and Agriculture Officer; Lieutenant Charles K. Martin of Hile, Hawaii, Public Safety Officer; Lieutenant Leonard Baker of Governeur, New York, Education, Religion, Public Health, Welfare, Fine Arts and Monuments Officer; Lieutenant Eugene C. Pontius of Portsmouth, Virginia, Public Utlities Officer and Lieutenant Irving Moschel of New York, Legal Officer.
