Bombing raids paralyze German fuel oil plant. These metal storage tanks melted when fires started in the "Eurotank-Hamburg" fuel oil refinery at Harburg, near Hamburg, Germany, March 9, 1945, after an Allied bombing raid. The Eurotank works supplied Hamburg's power system with fuel oil before Eighth U.S. Air Force and RAF bombers stopped its daily output of 1,500 tons of refined crude oil. The Eurotank works employed 200 persons who operated the stills and the 300,000-ton tank farm. The first three Eighth Air Force attacks reduced the storage capacity to 26,000 tons. The distillery produced 60-octane gasoline, kerosene, diesel oil, fuel oil and byproducts.
