Combat engineers of the 84th Division, Ninth U.S. Army, drag their assault boat to the banks of the Roer River as the big American offensive started February 23, 1945. These men will blow up enemy pillboxes on the far bank of the river and clear road blocks and mines from the highways to insure the speedy advance of troops and supplies.
