British Air Chief Marshal Sir Arthur Tedder, Deputy Supreme Commander in Chief Allied Expeditionay Force, signs on behalf of the Allied High Command in Berlin May 9, 1945, a copy of the ratification of the unconditional surrender of Germany to the Allies originally signed at Reims, France, May 7, 1945. The instrument of ratification was signed at the Soviet Army Headquarters in the great hall of the German Military Academy. Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel, Chief of the German General Staff, was the first to sign at 00:15 a.m.
