German war crime is investigated. Exhumed bodies of three American pilots slain by the Germans after their plane was shot down in October, 1944, over Schwickershausen, Germany, are examined by Americans of the 3046 Graves Registration Company, Ninth U.S. Army. Making the examination are Sergeant Riley F. Rose, Pineville, Kentucky (left), and Private Cecil Hankins, Ocean Grove, New Jersey. The slain airmen were found by civilians and buried in a German cemetery in Nordheim. The bodies were exhumed for examination and reburial May 28, 1945.
