Duitse verdedigingswerken (o.a. langs de kust - Atlantikwall). Life and death in the dunes. In May 1942 the Germans forbade to visit the coast and the dunes. Since those days the average Dutchman has not seen again the beach of the Northsea, except some enterprising young men who tried to escape to England or worked as spies. What the Dutchman sees after this separation of three years. The sea rolls against the asparagus-fields which defended the coast against landings. Thousands of mines are hidden between the water and the dunes and the dunes are protected with barbed wire. The Dutchman who bathes in the sea this year, does not get a very peaceful impression.
