Boys in a wood workshop at the Ilaniah Children's Village, an orphanage housing 500 children preparing for life in Israel. These childrens' parents were killed by the Germans; the families coming from Romania, and in smaller numbers from Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Germany. The children were rescued by the Jewish Agency and JDC and brought to the orphanage farm, coming from very poor living conditions in European DP camps. At Ilaniah the children recuperated and learned skills for life in Israel. JDC financed their transport to Ilaniah. their recuperation, and final settlement in Israel.
